Hatha Yoga is often described as the physical branch of Yoga. It is classical postures practiced with deep breathing and mindfulness.
Iyengar Yoga is similar to Hatha Yoga. The use of props such as mats, blankets and blocks allows students to receive the maximum benefit from each posture and also enables one to adapt poses for a variety of physical injuries or conditions. Iyengar Yoga can be very active and athletic, restorative or therapeutic.
Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic practice that integrates a set series of postures with the breath. An intense internal heat is created in the body as the practitioner moves through each asana while maintaining deep meditative breathing. Ashtanga is a vigorous form of yoga that builds strength, improves flexibility, and purifies the mind and body.
Vinyasa Yoga is a series of postures that flow gracefully from one into another.
Kripalu Yoga is a gentle introspective practice blending postures, wisdom and heart-centered devotion.
Kundalini Yoga, the Yoga of Awareness, was brought to the West by Yogi Bhajan in 1968. Yogi Bhajan taught that, through the practice of Kundalini Yoga and meditation, your glandular and nervous systems are stimulated, and your capacity for creative potential is heightened. By practicing Kundalini yoga, you gain inner vitality to compensate for the adverse effects of stress so you can excel in life.
Pre-natal Yoga can help enhance your pregnancy experience as well as your delivery. The physical postures, breathwork and meditations will help ease this sometimes difficult, always exciting process of bringing a new life into the world.
Yoga for Babies and Caregivers focuses on postures that help restore alignment and tone, and provide relief from lifting, carrying, and nursing. This baby-friendly class is a supportive community for new moms and babies and allows you to deepen the experience of bonding with your baby.
Yoga for Seniors is a gentle supportive class designed to restore and maintain health as we age.
Restorative Yoga is a gentle relaxing class that supports immune system response.
Gentle is a class utilizing restorative poses to relax and stretch. Great for those recuperating from injuries and trauma or for those simply needing to relax. We will focus on guided meditations, breath and movements to help release stress and to help free the body of deeply held trauma. The class will also provide the tools to assist with the student's own healing. Great for seniors, people with injuries and / or physical limitations.
Yoga For Kids encourages soulful strength and flexibility inherent in children, and helps provide kids with a healthy mindset that they can carry with them through new adventures and challenges. Using yoga techniques including stretching, deep breathing, and guided visualizations children are shown tools for concentration, self-calming, self-confidence and self-respect. Children delve into their individual creativity through music, story telling, writing and drawing. We have loads of fun while children foster joy and compassion and learn to live life with an increased sense of health and happiness.
Yoga in Chairs allows almost anyone to participate in a very gentle form of Yoga comfortably seated in a chair or using a chair for balance when standing. It works the joints and muscles to increase flexibility, strength, balance, and circulation. It stresses quiet reflection, proper breathing, and spinal alignment.
Relaxing Asana and Nidra offers a quieting sequence of postures and breathwork to release physical and mental tension in preparation for the practice of Nidra. Nidra translates to “yogic sleep” in which the mind and body come to a complete rest, but rather than dropping off into the dream state, the practitioner experiences awareness of the inner environment. While yoga nidra brings quiet, calm and clarity, it also offers the unique opportunity to explore the layers of the mind, and the Spirit of being.
